Organized around the five stages of grief—in reverse, from acceptance to denial—this collection of original poetry and oil paintings explores the stress and uncertainty of approaching adulthood on a planet threatened by climate crisis. About the Author

Hailey Talbert is a seventeen-year-old debut poet and painter from Falmouth High School. When she is not playing with iambic pentameter or smearing oil paint on a blank canvas, Hailey loves nothing more than to be outside, enjoying Maine’s nature during long hikes or beach walks where she often falls susceptible to jumping in the frigid ocean. She is always looking for ways to reduce her carbon footprint on the earth, such as sewing her own clothes and eating vegan from her vegetable garden. Hailey is especially passionate about youth involvement in the climate crisis. She hopes to leave a better world behind for future generations, using her words and brushstrokes in the fight to save our burning planet.
