Mo Drammeh discusses their book, Where the Cryptids Fled on Bangor’s WABI 5 News Segment, ‘Book Club.’
Last week, one of our Young Emerging Authors, Mo Drammeh, was featured on Bangor’s News channel, WABI 5, to discuss their book, Where the Cryptids Fled.
Mo Drammeh grew up in Bangor, Maine, where they have lived all of their life. In 2022, Mo won the Crime Flash Competition from the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, and was named among Maine Magazine's Mainers of The Year. Mo is now in their senior year at the University of Maine, and is still recognized for their incredible storytelling and world-building even past their time spent at The Telling Room as a young author.
Check out Mo’s book, Where the Cryptids Fled, a cautionary tale that interrogates the essence of validity and how the media responds to culture. It critiques the role of the media and asks the question: who is valid, and why? Who determines what identities are wrong and right? And most of all, when you are determined to be invalid, when society has rejected you, what do you do?
