Giselle Armes (she/her) is a sophomore, attending Bowdoin College as a prospective economics and theater major. Although born and raised in Georgia, she is happy to now call Maine home. When she’s not listening to Harry Styles, she can probably be found at a concert, pretending she was born early enough to be a millennial, or reading any form of medium she can get her hands on. As the daughter of an immigrant and teen parents, Giselle is passionate about empowering and uplifting her fellow under-represented peers. She is especially passionate about helping others embrace their stories, identities, and experiences as sources of strength. At the end of the day, Giselle is just trying to make the world a little more inclusive—preferably with a good book and a Harry Styles playlist in the background.

Iris Young (she/her) is a junior at the University of New England, where she is studying English with a concentration in Writing. She is from South Portland, Maine. In her free time, Iris loves hanging out with her sister, going to the beach in the summer, thrifting or trying new coffee and matcha spots around Portland, reading, and writing poetry. She is excited to help guide and encourage students throughout their own writing journeys at The Telling Room this fall.

Steph Rogers (she/they) is a graduate student at the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Service where she is studying Public Policy, Planning, and Management. Born and raised in Portland, she cares deeply for the community in which she has lived and worked throughout her life. With a background in law and hospitality, Steph is inspired by the intersection of writing, justice, community, and service. She is thrilled to be supporting students at The Telling Room in developing and proliferating their voices and stories.
