BIG NIGHT 2025

Friday, June 20th from 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Portland High School’s John Ford Auditorium - Portland, ME
Free & Open to the Public

Our celebration of young writers published from 2024 - 2025 includes a book fair with sales and signings, interactive activities, award announcements, and author readings from our newest annual anthology. Join us as we honor all the students who have been published with The Telling Room this year while launching When Fish Walk.

When Fish Walk

What are we made of? Are we merely the sum of our parts, or do we extend beyond ourselves, into the place we call home? Are we our routines, or the breaking of them? Our flaws, or our forgiveness? How do we move forward, when it’s time to reimagine our design?

Throughout this book, we answer these questions while we are carried inward, going “deeper in the stitching,” putting ourselves under the microscope. When Fish Walk, a collection of stories, poems, and essays by forty-four authors hailing from twenty-three towns across Maine’s sixteen counties, examines our elemental core.
