Like many of you, we’ve been actively following the progression of COVID-19 in Maine, in other parts of the country, and across the globe. In the interest of safeguarding the wellbeing of our beloved staff, volunteers, teaching artists, and students—and following guidance from local, state, and federal authorities regarding measures that best promote public health—we’ve decided to temporarily suspend daily operations, including all Telling Room programs and events, starting March 13th at 6pm. Please visit our Programs page for more information.

We do whatever we can to support those who are on the front lines teaching writing in classrooms across Greater Portland. We appreciate what it takes to prepare students for a barrage of standardized tests and manage maxed-out classrooms. Our innovative Field Trips are a great way to introduce your class to some new approaches to creative writing and energize your students.

Looking for something long term? Contact us about our in school Residencies, where we come to your classroom for up to twelve sessions, share some concrete writing skills, have some fun and help produce a chapbook of your students’ work.

Maybe you have a few specific students in mind that you think could benefit from our free programs? Encourage them to join us for The Writers Block on Wednesday afternoon or submit their work to be published on our Stories page.

Speaking of stories, have you seen our Publications? Our books are filled with amazing examples of student writing that can inspire your classes in exciting new ways.
