In the spirit of the hipster poets that so inspire our writing, The Telling Room tutoring program has taken to the road. Our staff and volunteers have visited after-school programs all around the area to run writing workshops and assist with schoolwork. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for further information about our upcoming locations.
We now offer Writing Center Hours, opening our space to all comers between 1:30 and 3:30pm every Wednesday through the school year. It's free writing time in a free writing space. Come and bring a willingness to write, or else watch out - we'll inspire you even if your mom made you come! Students who come to the Telling Room may find their muse, often a professional writer-turned-coach who plunks down beside them in a beanbag chair and encourages their work, whether for school or for fun. Some kids write with serious purpose, some for amusement; all leave as storytellers.
So come on down to 225 Commercial Street during Writing Center Hours! Students ages 8 to 18 are welcome Wednesdays, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
