"I am a Crow" by Imogen Dedek (Sagadahoc County Winner)

I am a crow

And a free soul

I do not suffer under the weight of sadness

I embrace my lively feelings

I fly

I fly for the sake of my own delight

I fly for freedom

I do not wait for chances of happiness to arrive

I simply make them

My sharp feathers dive toward the wind as if

it were curiosity

Again, I fly

I fly until my wings dip into the comfort of land

Until the sun darkens into crisp night

Until I feel free

And I land

I land with no thud or crash

I land with my feathers softly brushing grass

I land a better self

I am a crow
